Mission Profile

Nuri (KSLV-II) is South Korea's first domestically developed three-stage liquid-propellant orbital launch vehicle, developed by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute to achieve fully independent South Korean orbital launch capability without foreign technology restrictions. Standing 47.2 m tall with a 3.5 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 200 tonnes, it generates 2,610 kN of first-stage thrust from four 75-ton liquid oxygen-kerosene engines and can deliver 1,500 kg to sun-synchronous orbit. Following a first test failure in October 2021, Nuri achieved its first successful orbital mission in June 2022, making South Korea one of only seven countries with an indigenous orbital launch capability.
