Mission Profile

Skyrora XL is a three-stage Scottish small launch vehicle in development by Skyrora Ltd, designed to deliver small payloads to low Earth and sun-synchronous orbit from UK launch facilities including the proposed Saxavord Spaceport in Shetland. Standing 23 m tall with a 1.6 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 56 tonnes, it uses kerosene and hydrogen peroxide propellants and is projected to deliver 315 kg to sun-synchronous orbit. Though its maiden flight date has been repeatedly delayed, Skyrora XL represents the UK's ambition to develop a domestic sovereign launch capability for the first time since the Black Arrow rocket in 1971.
