Mission Profile

The Falcon 9 Block 4 was SpaceX's fourth major iteration of the Falcon 9, introducing uprated Merlin 1D Full Thrust engines and structural improvements specifically designed to support first-stage reuse across ten or more flights. Standing 70 m tall with a 3.7 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 549,054 kg, it generated 7,607 kN of liftoff thrust and could deliver 22,800 kg to low Earth orbit in expendable mode. First flying in May 2017, Block 4 operated as a transitional configuration between Block 3 and the definitive Block 5, validating the rapid turnaround and multi-flight reuse that would become the commercial standard.
