Mission Profile

Energia Buran T Variant 2 (11K25) was a Soviet concept for an alternative Buran orbiter configuration studied in the late 1980s, featuring a modified payload bay arrangement intended to improve cargo transfer efficiency for Soviet space station resupply missions. Sharing the Energia's 58.8 m height, 7.7 m diameter, and 2,400 tonne liftoff mass generating 34,840 kN of thrust, this variant explored different crew and cargo bay configurations while retaining the standard Energia booster stack. The concept never advanced beyond study phase as the Buran program was cancelled following the Soviet Union's collapse in 1991.
