Mission Profile

The Delta G (Thor-Delta G, DSV-3G) was a three-stage American medium-lift launch vehicle and an improved generation of the Thor-Delta family, featuring an upgraded upper stage for enhanced performance on communications and weather satellite missions. Standing 28 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 57 tonnes, it generated 758 kN of first-stage thrust and could deliver 450 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in December 1966, the Delta G served for several years launching applications and scientific satellites before being succeeded by more capable Delta variants with strap-on solid rocket boosters.
