Mission Profile

The Angara A5 Persei is a variant of Russia's Angara A5 heavy-lift rocket equipped with the Persei restartable upper stage, optimized for high-energy orbit insertion including geostationary transfer orbit and deep space missions. Standing 64 m tall with an 8.9 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 790 tonnes, it generates 9,610 kN of combined first-stage thrust from five Universal Rocket Modules. First launched in December 2021, the Angara A5 Persei represents Russia's primary next-generation heavy-lift platform, developed to replace the aging Proton-M with a vehicle that launches from Russian territory and uses environmentally cleaner propellants.
