Mission Profile

Eclipse (formerly known as Firefly Beta) is a medium-lift launch vehicle in development by Firefly Aerospace, designed to fill the competitive gap between small launch vehicles and large heavy-lift rockets. A two-stage liquid-propellant vehicle, Eclipse targets commercial, government, and national security payloads requiring more capability than Firefly's Alpha rocket while remaining more cost-effective than larger launchers. Planned for its first launch in 2026, Eclipse represents Firefly's expansion into the medium-lift market and its ambition to offer a broader range of dedicated launch services to growing commercial and defense satellite operators.
