Mission Profile

The Delta II 7925-9.5 was a three-stage variant of the highly successful Delta II launch vehicle, featuring nine strap-on solid rocket boosters, a cryogenic second stage, and an enlarged 9.5-foot (2.9 m) payload fairing for wider payloads. Standing 39 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 232 tonnes, it generated 3,546 kN of combined thrust and could deliver 5,089 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in November 1990, this configuration became one of the most capable Delta II variants, launching numerous GPS navigation satellites, Mars and lunar missions, and Earth science spacecraft.
