Mission Profile
Energia-2 (GK-175) was a Soviet super heavy-lift launch vehicle concept studied in the late 1980s as an ambitious follow-on to the Energia rocket, intended to provide dramatically increased payload capacity for large space infrastructure projects. Designed with a two-stage configuration, 60 m height, 7.7 m diameter core, and a projected liftoff mass of 2,400 tonnes generating 34,840 kN of thrust, it would have delivered 40,000 kg to low Earth orbit. The program never advanced beyond the concept stage, falling victim to the economic turmoil and political changes that accompanied the collapse of the Soviet Union.
