Mission Profile

The Falcon 9 v1.1 (Block 2) was the second major iteration of SpaceX's Falcon 9, introducing significantly upgraded Merlin 1D engines, a stretched first stage, and a substantially higher thrust-to-weight ratio compared to the original version. Standing 68.4 m tall with a 3.7 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 505,850 kg, it generated 5,885 kN of thrust and could deliver 13,150 kg to low Earth orbit. First flying in September 2013, the v1.1 also introduced deployable landing legs, marking the beginning of SpaceX's development path toward the fully reusable Falcon 9 that would transform the commercial launch industry.
