Mission Profile

The N-11 was a proposed Soviet medium-lift launch vehicle studied in the 1970s as part of the Soviet Lunar Program, conceived as a smaller and more practical derivative of the massive N-1 super heavy rocket. Designed with three stages, it would have leveraged the N-1's NK-15 and NK-43 engine heritage in a reduced configuration suitable for a broader range of missions beyond crewed lunar landing. Though the cancellation of the N-1 program prevented the N-11 from being developed, the concept demonstrated Soviet intent to exploit the substantial engineering investments of the N-1 program for wider application.
