Mission Profile

The Atlas SLV-3 Agena D was a two-stage American medium-lift rocket pairing the improved SLV-3 Atlas booster with the highly capable and restartable Agena D upper stage. First flown in August 1964, it stood 28.7 m tall and generated 1,740 kN of thrust at liftoff, forming a two-stage combination well suited to a wide range of orbital missions. The Atlas SLV-3 Agena D was widely used for classified military reconnaissance satellites and scientific probes, exemplifying the Atlas family's exceptional versatility throughout the height of the Space Race.
