Mission Profile

The Thorad SLV-2H Agena D was a U.S. Air Force medium-lift rocket developed from the Thor IRBM, featuring a long-tank, thrust-augmented first stage paired with the highly versatile Agena D upper stage. Standing 23.5 m tall with a 2.4 m diameter and a liftoff mass of 59 tonnes, it generated 758 kN of thrust from its upgraded first stage. First flown in June 1969 under the Thor IRBM Program, it was used primarily for the deployment of military reconnaissance and intelligence-gathering satellites into polar and sun-synchronous orbits.
