Mission Profile

Baikonur Cosmodrome Site 200, Pad 39 (Area 200/Ares 39) is the primary launch pad for the Proton-M heavy-lift rocket at Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Operational since 1980, it is the most modern and most-used Proton launch pad, hosting the majority of Proton-M commercial and government missions launching communications satellites to geostationary transfer orbit and scientific payloads to interplanetary trajectories. The facility includes the horizontal integration building where the Proton is assembled and mated with its payload, a rail transport system to the pad, and the ground support systems for the Proton's hypergolic N₂O₄/UDMH propellants. Following Russia's withdrawal from commercial launch services due to international sanctions, the pad operates primarily for Russian government customers.
