Cape Canaveral Launch Complex 39A (SpaceX)
🇺🇸LC-39A
Mission Profile
Kennedy Space Center Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) was leased by SpaceX from NASA in 2014 and rebuilt as the company's primary East Coast launch facility for Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy, and eventually Starship missions. First used for SpaceX on 19 February 2017 with Falcon 9 mission CRS-10, the pad has since supported dozens of crewed and uncrewed Falcon 9 missions, all Falcon Heavy flights, and several historic human spaceflight events including the first US crewed orbital launch since the Shuttle era (Crew Dragon Demo-2, May 2020). SpaceX continues adapting LC-39A for Starship launches, adding a Mechazilla tower for booster and ship catch operations, making it one of the most actively evolving launch pads in the world.
