Mission Profile

The Mobile Launcher and Launch Umbilical Tower for Saturn V MLV-25L was a conceptual ground support infrastructure design studied in 1970 for the proposed Saturn V Multi-purpose Launch Vehicle 25L, an uprated Saturn V variant capable of lifting 25% more payload to low Earth orbit. The concept envisioned a scaled-up launch umbilical tower and mobile launcher platform adapted for the increased vehicle dimensions and propellant loading requirements of the MLV-25L. This infrastructure concept was studied as part of NASA's ambitious post-Apollo exploration planning but was never built as the Saturn V program was terminated and the budget for super-heavy lift vehicles was not forthcoming in the early 1970s.
