SaxaVord Fredo

Mission Profile

SaxaVord Spaceport's Fredo launch pad is the primary orbital launch facility under development at the SaxaVord Spaceport on Unst, the northernmost of the Shetland Islands in Scotland. Positioned at approximately 60.8° North latitude, it offers access to polar and sun-synchronous orbits particularly valuable for Earth observation satellites. The Fredo pad is being configured to support the RFA One small launch vehicle from Rocket Factory Augsburg, with first launches targeted for the mid-2020s. SaxaVord is one of several UK commercial spaceport projects aiming to capitalize on the UK Space Industry Act and provide European small satellite launch capabilities closer to home.
